Last Saturday was 8 March, International Women’s Day. The reasons to celebrate this day are varied and necessary, as history has shown. Soccer Camps Pro together with women will continue to build a more inclusive and respectful sporting environment.
Our summer camps, run in partnership with elite clubs, are open to boys and girls of various ages. They all play and train together and learn the same values of each club without any distinction or separation.
Unfortunately, soccer has been a largely male-dominated sport over the years. Or, to put it another way, this is how it has been communicated in the media, with much more prominence given to it than to women’s soccer.
However, things have been changing, and for several years now, women’s soccer has become much more important. In the end, it is everyone’s job, not only the media.
Parents at home can also promote these sporting interests in their daughters. The schools should also strive for such inclusion in their playgrounds, and the role models themselves, the famous players, both male and female, should emphasise that all disciplines in both sexes should grow equally.
Surely asking the smallest boy who can hold a ball about famous players will give you a quick answer (Cristiano Ronaldo, Messi, Mbappé…). Would he do the same with female players?
In recent years we have seen players like Aitana Bonmatí, Sam Kerr and Alexia Putella prove that dreams do come true. Thanks to them and many others, more and more girls see soccer as a sport of their own, to which they can gain access without any discrimination.
However, there is still a long way to go. Men’s soccer still has a majority presence in the media and many families do not choose to give a ball to a girl as a Christmas present, for example. As we said at the beginning, it is up to all of us to change this.
Paris Saint-Germain, Arsenal, Bayern and Benfica offer the camps you can find on our website in the USA and Canada. These summer camps for boys and girls last about 5 days and run from 8am to 2pm each day. They are a perfect option for everyone to get together and train together following the methodology of their favourite club.
In addition, all of them, without distinction, may have the opportunity to be chosen for a training clinic in Europe. Here, boys and girls also enjoy a family trip while they train in the clubs’ own academies. They are located in London, Munich, Paris and Lisbon.
In short, at Soccer Camps Pro together with women, we strongly believe in equality and the importance of sharing core values in soccer. If you have any questions about our camps, how they are run, or anything else, please do not hesitate to contact us.
