As September drew to a close and we entered October, we noticed that the stifling heat was finally giving us a break. Before winter sets in, we have this fantastic season to adapt to the new temperatures and continue enjoying soccer. Here are some tips for training in autumn.
Each season, each period of the year, has its advantages and disadvantages. From the clothing and equipment we need for training to the type of exercises that are best to do. It also influences whether we do the activity indoors or outdoors.

The best thing about autumn is undoubtedly the temperature. The heat is behind us, which helps us cope with fatigue and sweat less. Even so, we mustn’t neglect ourselves and must continue to stay hydrated. Drinking before, during and after training remains essential.
One disadvantage is that, although it is cooler, there is also a greater chance of rain. This means that some training sessions may be cancelled or that the pitch may be more slippery. It is important to consider whether we are going to play in the rain, as we may slip and, therefore, suffer more injuries.
If we have indoor facilities, the weather is less of a concern, but we cannot always play under a roof. Above all, if there is a storm, it is best to be cautious and postpone training, as it is not worth taking any risks.

Although it may seem so, soccer is not just about boots and a ball. Just as in summer we must take into account aspects such as sunscreen, in autumn we must take precautions. First of all, as we have said, we must check the weather, but let’s assume that we are facing cool weather with a chance of rain.
In these cases, it is much better to wear layers of warm clothing. Of course, it must allow for mobility and not hinder movement or cause overheating once you have warmed up. A thermal T-shirt and a sweatshirt or windbreaker should be sufficient. However, this depends on the latitude where you are. It is not the same for someone playing in Canada as it is for someone playing in Texas, for example.
And, of course, it’s a good idea to bring certain accessories that we’ll be grateful for in the middle of training if the weather takes a turn for the worse. Thin gloves, a hat or headband, neck warmer, long thermal socks, etc. There are many options for protecting all the exposed areas of our body, so there’s no excuse for being careless. Finally, don’t forget to bring a change of clothes and warm up properly. Avoid getting cold by keeping moving constantly.
