We recently had the opportunity to get a first-hand look at the vision and opinion of the Benfica staff regarding the summer camps. Don’t miss the following video where Benfica coaches talk about Benfica Soccer Camps in the US.
It is certainly a very interesting perspective to hear what they have to say, as it allows new players to get an idea of what the soccer camps can offer. First and foremost, they are based on Benfica’s own methodology and values as a club.
Above all, the Benfica coaches expect total willingness from the boys and girls who attend the soccer camps. When there is mutual respect and a motivation to learn and have fun, the camp becomes a unique experience. Therefore, they expect the participants to listen to advice and heed the lessons.
Likewise, the participants have to do their bit in the face of training sessions that can vary in a variable range of intensity. Even so, they are always adapted to the age and needs of each group, which are organised by the coaches.
Also, although it is a prior task on the part of each participant and family, it is advisable to know and study the club with which they are going to train. In this case, whether they feel more or less identified with Benfica, their values and methodology will help them to improve on and off the pitch. You can see the reasons for choosing a Benfica camp in our last blog post.
As coach João Rosmaninho explains in the video, the ‘Benfica way’ is not something easy to explain. It is something that the boys will feel inside the camp, in every training session, in every dribble… The coaches put pressure on the boys to improve, and the passion is evident in every corner of the pitch.
As coach Andre Luis says, the methodology they follow at the Benfica Soccer Camps is the same as the one they use with their professional players. The club pulls out all the stops when it comes to developing new and young players, pushing methods that make them improve their skills.
The ‘Benfica way’ also translates into the honesty of working with the club’s official coaches. It is about transmitting an idea, a philosophy and a playing methodology.
Fernando Pinto (Head of Sports Projects), for his part, comments on an interesting aspect: the idea of building bridges. This is something we have already mentioned a lot on the Soccer Camps Pro blog.
When a boy or girl participates in any soccer camp, they have the opportunity to be invited with their family to a training clinic in Europe. In this case, by doing a Benfica camp, they could go with their parents to the Benfica training clinic in Lisbon.
There, they will train for several days at the Benfica Campus, the club’s own academy. In addition, being a family experience, cultural activities in the city of Lisbon are also added.
