How to support your child on the field?

You may have already seen some posts on our blog aimed specifically at parents. On this occasion, we are going to look at an issue that should be treated as naturally as possible: how to support your child on the field?

First of all, it should be said that at all Soccer Camps Pro camps, parents are welcome to visit during training sessions as long as they do not interfere with the process of the program. There are designated areas where parents are welcome to be.

Try to be respectful

As a parent, you will be proud of your children. It’s only natural, especially when they are involved in an activity that helps them develop as a person and builds relationships with others. Soccer is a wonderful sport and a great way to make friends.

It is also logical that, when our children play soccer, we support them unconditionally. But be careful not to get too caught up in the excitement of soccer. Occasionally, a play will benefit or harm our team. In that case, the best thing to do is to applaud and congratulate, or give encouragement to continue the game. But, under no circumstances should we mock or complain about the opponent, either to the other players or to the rest of the parents.

As adults and mature people, we should set an example and create a healthy atmosphere in which fans and players can enjoy themselves.

No confrontation with the referee

This is a civic rule that should be observed by everyone and towards everyone. Being on a soccer pitch is no exception. The referee is a professional in this sport and never takes sides for or against a team. He does his job and, as is normal and human, he can also make mistakes.

However, that is no excuse for parents to harm him morally or physically. Apart from the bad image towards the younger ones, there is no cause to justify such action.

If we consider his decision to be wrong, we can always express ourselves in a polite and respectful manner. Above all, he is an authority figure on the field and we must accept his decisions, whether they are for or against our child’s team.

Children are a mirror of parents

Parents should behave in the same way as we have discussed with coaches and anyone else in the sporting environment. In this way, boys and girls will learn from watching their parents behave in a civil manner and will be able to enjoy the game without any setbacks.

It should be borne in mind that a large percentage of a person’s development is based on the family environment. The influence that parents have on the way their child behaves is unquestionable. Therefore, the better the former behave, the better the latter will behave.

Soccer is a fantastic sport that should serve as a meeting point and a place for friendship. Of course, it also has a competitive factor, but that should serve as a way of wanting to improve and better oneself. Let us, as parents, not let it become a negative learning environment.

Hopefully this has answered the question: how to support your child in the field? The power and responsibility of parents for their children’s attitude can shape their future. Let’s make them love the sport and everything around it.
