Classes have started and routine has returned. After a fantastic summer, which we have already reviewed through the Benfica, Arsenal, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern soccer camps, it’s time to get back to training. Now, let’s look at some tips on how to train after the summer holidays.
After a long break, it is normal to have to adapt gradually to training. This way, we will regain our endurance, agility, strength, reflexes, etc. Likewise, our joints and muscles will get used to daily training.

The main thing is to be able to resume our daily activity prior to the holidays. It is normal to have spent a few days without doing any physical or intense exercise. Therefore, if we alternate rest with three or four days of exercise per week, we will adapt better.
We will do ball exercises: dribbling, touches, changes of direction, wall passes, etc. Without the ball, we can do squats, planks, push-ups, jumps, stretches…
Another day, apart from cardio with sprints, we will also improve techniques with cones (zigzag) and passes to teammates. We will also do shots on goal of varying intensity.

If we have the opportunity to bring together more players, we can set up a 5 vs 2 or 6 vs 3 rondo. We can also play a small-sided game of 4 vs 4 or 5 vs 5. This will improve our control and quick passing without demanding 100% of our capacity.
All of this should be combined with increasingly longer cardio sessions. We will also do running shots on goal and another series of stretches, as well as jumping circuits, explosive push-ups, planks and sprints. As we are able, we will add people to the rondos and matches, encouraging positional play and shots from outside the area.
When we play a 7-a-side or 8-a-side match, it will be important to focus on pressing after losing possession and defensive recovery. The pace of the game will increase, so that in approximately two weeks, we will have completely regained our sporting routine.

There is no point in adopting and regaining good habits on the pitch if we don’t stay hydrated or eat well. We have already talked in other posts about the importance of staying hydrated and eating healthy snacks for soccer players, for example.
First and foremost, don’t push yourself too hard. Holidays are for enjoying yourself and relaxing, so your return to work should be gradual. We have to manage the intensity ourselves and move forward at our own pace. Only then can we face the new year in a more positive way and with the desire to achieve new goals.
